By the Time It Gets Dark tells multiple stories of Thailand whose connections are as spiritual as they are incidental. We meet a pair of actors, a young waitress, a filmmaker interviewing an older woman whose life was transformed by the political activism of her student years and the Thammasat University massacre of 1976.
Anocha Suwichakornpong is a film director and producer from Thailand, who received an MFA from Columbia University. Her debut film, Mundane History, won the Tiger Award at the 2009 Rotterdam. By the Time It Gets Dark is her second feature.
