60-year-old VAN Pao-te suspects that he is ill, but refuses to see a doctor. Instead, he travels with his son to Japan, in search of his own father, who abandoned him fifty years ago. At the same time, a young man from Hong Kong who is somehow related to VAn Pao-te's past arrives in Taiwan. so begins these parallel journeys of reconciliation and self-discovery... Father to Son is a story about fathers and their sons, and about Taiwan's history.
