The Government Information Office announced 1962 Regulations of Golden Horse Awards for Outstanding Mandarin Films, officially founding Golden Horse Awards with eighteen categories. Winners are announced in advance prior to the ceremony, and such procedure has been carried on from the 1^st through the 14^th Golden Horse Awards.

The 1^st Golden Horse Awards for Outstanding Mandarin Films Ceremony was held at Taipei Guokuang Theater, hosted by Chief of The Government Information Office SHEN Chien-Hung. Seven Golden Horse Awards and NTD 370,000 cash prize were presented.(Courtesy of the Central Daily News)

Date of the ceremony was set on 31^st, October as a celebration for the President’s birthday; the 2^nd through the 15^th ceremony were held on 30^th, October as a warming-up for the President’s birthday celebration.
