INTRODUCTION
The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival (TGHFF) has long served as a prestigious hallmark and benchmark for Chinese-language cinema worldwide. Each year, in addition to honoring remarkable films, TGHFF provides a premier platform for Mandarin-speaking filmmakers to connect, exchange ideas, and collaborate.

Founded by director HOU Hsiao-hsien and led by Dean LIAO Ching-sung, Golden Horse Film Academy (GHFA) brings together acclaimed Sinophone cinema masters to share their expertise and creative philosophies with Mandarin-speaking filmmakers from around the globe. Concurrently, the program offers personalized mentorship to broaden participants' artistic horizons. - Fostering Connection and Collaboration Among Emerging Talents
Beyond masterclasses, competitively selected filmmakers will undergo an intensive, month-long practical residency to experience the complete film production cycle. Guided by an outstanding director serving as a personal mentor, participants will closely collaborate, unlocking new possibilities for the future of Chinese-language cinema.

PROGRAM
- Film Production: Participants will co-create a short film to gain hands-on experience in the complete production cycle, including casting, location scouting, script breakdown, visual effects planning, shooting, scheduling, editing, sound mixing, and color grading. GHFA will provide a professional production crew to support the shoot.
- Master Lectures & Workshops: Acclaimed Sinophone cinema masters will be invited to share their invaluable expertise with all participants.
- Personal Mentorship: Outstanding filmmakers will serve as mentors, providing personalized guidance and constructive feedback on individual creative projects.
- Exhibition The completed short films will make their world premiere at a special screening event during TGHFF.
- Festival Access: Participants are invited to attend other TGHFF screenings following the GHFA premiere.
- Selected non-local participants will receive a partial airfare subsidy (detailed guidelines will be provided upon acceptance).

- Program Dates:October 19 - November 22, 2026 (Online script and production conferences will commence in mid-September)
ELIGIBILITY
- Mandarin-speaking filmmakers who possess a strong passion for cinema and professional fluency in Mandarin.
- Experience: Applicants must have completed at least two short films in the same role (Screenwriter, Director, or Cinematographer) for which they are applying. The role performed in previous works must strictly match the "Position" selected in the submission form.
- Full Commitment: Selected talents must commit to full participation for the entire duration of the program.
SUBMISSION
- Please visit the TGHFF-Academy website to submit your application online.
- Fill out the application form and provide a downloadable cloud folder link (Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer, or Vimeo are recommended) containing the following required materials:
- Two previous film works available for download (Traditional Chinese or English subtitles are required if the audio is not in Mandarin). Streaming-only links will not be accepted. Please grant download access to GHFA (ghfa@goldenhorse.org.tw). File specifications: 1920 x 1080 resolution, .mov or .mp4 format; the file size must not exceed 1GB for short films and 2GB for feature films.
- A one-page resume in Chinese, including a self-introduction, personal experience, and an artistic statement aligned with your applied role (Screenwriter/Director/Cinematographer).
- One recent personal headshot.
- Screenplay (for Screenwriter applicants only): Screenwriter applicants must attach the full scripts corresponding to their submitted film works.
- Upon completing the online form, you will receive a registration fee payment notice via email with a secure payment link.
- Application Fee: A non-refundable fee of TWD 1,000 is required for each application, payable only via credit card online. Submissions without completed payment by the deadline will be automatically disqualified.
OTHER INFORMATION
- Telephone or online interviews may be conducted if deemed necessary by the selection committee.
- Selected talents must actively engage in all aspects of the program, including all courses, workshops, and film production stages.
- Failure to comply with GHFA regulations will result in automatic disqualification from the program and the forfeiture of all associated rights and privileges.
- Further logistical details and travel arrangements to Taiwan will be provided upon the announcement of the selection results.
- As the program is conducted primarily in Mandarin, applicants must be fully proficient in the language to participate. If you are unable to communicate fluently in Mandarin, please do not submit an application.
- The copyright of the short films produced during the GHFA program shall belong exclusively to the TGHFF Executive Committee.
