Two doctors live in Kali in Guizhou. One of them, Chen Sheng, decides to fulfill his dead mother's wish to look for his brother's abandoned child. The other doctor, an old lady, asks Chen to take an old photograph, a shirt and a cassette to her old sweetheart. Thus Chen embarks on a journey deep into the past.
