Under the grey sky in Northern China, there are a con man who tries to sell magic soap, a pair of detectives who struggle to solve a case, a monk who tries to trick people, a Christian who is looking for his mother and an exhausted civil servant. All of them are the protagonists in this mournful black comedy.
