Writer Jack together with his wife Wendy and his psychic son Danny head to an isolated hotel where Jack hopes to write in peace. But no one expects that an evil and spiritual presence in the hotel draws Jack into violence while Danny sees horrific forebodings from the past and of the future. This is also the "rarely seen" American version of the film.
