The Baby of Mâcon

The Baby of Mâcon tells the story of the creation and martyrdom of a child saint in the cathedral city of Mâcon in the 1650s. The child is exploited for gain, first by the child's sister in her bid to impersonate the Virgin Mary, and then by the Church to secure valuable relics.



Peter GREENAWAY
Peter GREENAWAY was born in Newport, Wales in 1942 and was educated in London. On graduating he worked as a fine artist and editor at the British government’s Central Office of Information. He directed numerous short films and documentaries, which came to international attention. In his work he has often collaborated withcomposers such as Philip Glass, John Cage and Michael Nyman.His feature debut The Draughtsman’s Contract signalled his international breakthrough as a director. Alongside his films, he has also created numerous installations and multimedia projects.
