Police
In Police, Gérard Depardieu stars as Mangin, a jaded police inspector who finds himself drawn into a romantic triangle involving the seductive moll, a Tunisian drug kingpin and Mangin's cynical lawyer pal Lambert. A brutally efficient genre film, Police is the second collaboration between Pialat and Depardieu who won Best Actor at the 1985 Venice for his role.

Maurice PIALAT was born on 31 August 1925 in Puy-de-Dôme, France and grew up in Paris. He studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs and the École des Beaux Arts. As a film director, he was known for his non-conformity, which led to difficulties in obtaining finance, and he wrote and directed just ten features, of which at least half were masterworks. Their primary concerns were childhood and family, and Pialat drew on his own experiences to present unyielding portraits of familial cruelty and infidelity. He died on 11 January 2003 in Paris, France. |
