Anne Desbarèdes is married to a wealthy businessman in the town of Blaye. After being an indirect witness to a murder in a café, she goes back to it the next day. There she meets Chauvin, who tells her more detail about the crime. Due to her unstable mental state, Anna starts to think that he is suspected.
