In 1997 Turkey, amidst rising tensions between religious and secular communities, Ahmet is sent by his recently converted father to an Islamic dormitory to learn Muslim values. Struggling to fit in and keep the dorm a secret from his secular schoolmates, Ahmet finds solace in Hakan, his street-smart new friend. Together, they dream of independence and strive to navigate the complex religious-secular divide of their time.



Nehir TUNA

Nehir Tuna, born in 1985, is a Turkish director and producer. He studied at Columbia University and holds an MFA in directing from Rochester Institute of Technology. He has written and directed many short films, including The Shoes in 2018, based on which he created Dormitory, his first feature film that competed at Venice Orizzonti section in 2023.
