Set in 1868 during the Boshin War in Japan's Hokuriku region, the story unfolds after the fall of the shogunate, amidst civil war and upheaval. The new Imperial Army seeks to establish a new era, while Shogun supporters remain fractured. The Shibata Domain must defend a vital mountain pass, and eleven condemned criminals are promised freedom if they successfully defend it. United in battle, they confront fierce enemies while grappling with their struggles of honour and love.



SHIRAISHI Kazuya

Shiraishi Kazuya is a Japanese filmmaker known for his film The Devil's Path, which received multiple nominations at the 2014 Japanese Academy Awards. He won the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Director for Birds Without Names in 2017 and for The Blood of Wolves in 2018. His recent works include Lesson in Murder and Bushido.
