The System, Peter Yung's debut feature, draws on research from the documentary Opium: The White Powder Opera that he previously produced. The film offers a nuanced portrayal of the complex ties between drug dealers, police, and informants. Inspector Chan enlists Tam, assistant to drug lord Hung, to gather evidence. However, the operation is derailed by interference from within the police force, exposing corruption and complicating an already dangerous investigation.
