The 2024 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival will take place from November 7^th to 24^th. The Festival will open with Stranger Eyes, a Venice competitor helmed by Singaporean director YEO Siew Hua, with a star-studded cast including Golden Horse Best Actor LEE Kang-sheng, WU Chien-ho, Vera CHEN and Anicca Panna. Stranger Eyes is a 2021 Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP) selected project and received the FPP Visionary Award. The screenings at the Golden Horse will mark its Asian premiere, following its world premiere in Venice.

YEO Siew Hua has earned international attention with A Land Imagined, the winner of Golden Leopard at Locarno Film Festival and Best Original Screenplay at the 56^th Golden Horse Awards. YEO noted, “It is a real honour for us to have our film open for the Golden Horse Film Festival, which holds such an important place in my heart as a Chinese filmmaker”. And it surely marks a beautiful return. After the two winnings of A Land Imagined at Golden Horse Awards, Stranger Eyes has come full circle since its development at the FPP, building up trust and collaborations with producing partners and realizing a wonderful collective work between Taiwan and Singapore. “We hope the audience will enjoy the fruits of our hard work and share in our love for cinema”, YEO said.

In Stranger Eyes, a young couple begins to receive strange videos after the mysterious disappearance of their baby daughter, realizing someone has been filming their daily life -- even their most intimate moments. As the identity of the voyeur and the truth behind these videos are revealed, the family starts to crumble. The film scrutinizes the fine line between “to see” and “to be seen” in contemporary urban lives. While human nature was unraveled through the surveillance videos, how should we view ourselves?

In line with the eco-friendly trend of reducing paper use, this year's Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival program book will be available only as a free digital download. A printed booklet with the screening schedule and event information will still be available at festival venues. Online ticket purchases will now use electronic tickets, allowing the audience to enter by scanning the QR code on their e-tickets.

The 2024 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival will take place from November 7^th to 24^th. The Programme Guide event will be held on the evening of October 25^th, with tickets going on sale at 1 PM on October 27^th via the official website.
