Veteran Film Editor and Executive Producer LIAO Ching-sung
Presides the Jury of the 62nd Golden Horse Awards |

Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee announced today the President for the Jury of the 62nd Golden Horse Awards – veteran film editor and executive producer LIAO Ching-sung. LIAO has worked as a film editor for over five decades; the first film he edited in 1978, He Never Gives Up, won the Best Feature Film at Golden Horse Awards. Starting from the 80s, LIAO worked closely with renowned filmmakers of Taiwan New Wave, like HOU Hsiao-hsien, Edward YANG and WAN Jen, and LIAO was thus called “Pushing Hands of Taiwan New Wave”. His noteworthy works include The Sandwich Man, The Boys from Fengkuei, That Day, on the Beach, His Matrimony, The Terrorizers, A City of Sadness, Super Citizen Ko, The Best of Times, The Assassin, etc. His role as an executive producer started in the 1998 production, Flowers of Shanghai; not only did he collaborate with experienced directors, LIAO also devoted to support newcomers from all over Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and many more, earning him the accolade of Special Contribution Award at the 55th Golden Horse Awards. In 2023, LIAO won the Best Film Editing for Stonewalling at the 60th Golden Horse Awards. His own directorial efforts include Be My Lovely Child Again and When the Ocean is Blue. For his upcoming duty as the President, LIAO noted “I am truly honored to take on this responsibility. The power of cinema lies not only between cuts and scenes, but also within the sincerity and courage of each choice. I look forward to joining the jury and together we will stay open-minded, fair and thoughtful, so as to highlight the truly touching works to be seen and be remembered.”





President LIAO Ching-sung will join the jury comprised of Karena LAM (Actress, winner of Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actress and Best New Performer at GHA),CHIN Ting-chang (Director of Photography, nominee of Best Cinematography at GHA),David TANG (Veteran film producer, Best Feature Film winner at Taipei Film Awards),HUANG Hsin-yao (Director/screenwriter, Best New Director and Best Adapted Screenplay winner at GHA),Owen WANG (Film composer/musical producer, nominee of Best Original Film Score at GHA),HO Miu-ki (Director/screenwriter, nominee of Best New Director at GHA), WU Jo-yun (Production designer, nominee of Best Art Direction at GHA), LI Nien-hsiu (Director/screenwriter/editor, Best Live Action Short Film winner at GHA),Tom LIN Shu-yu (Director/screenwriter/producer, Best Original Screenplay winner at GHA),Kevin KO (Director/screenwriter/editor, Best Film Editing winner at GHA),ZHANG XU Zhan (Animation director and visual artist, Best Animated Short Film winner at GHA),CHIANG Wei-liang (Director/screenwriter/cinematographer, Best New Director winner at GHA), HUANG Hsiu-yi (Documentary director, Grand Prize winner at the Taipei Film Awards),Ryan CHENG (Film critic and Programme Director for Kaohsiung Film Festival).This Jury of 15 members will hold the jury meeting with open discussion and votes on the day of the awarding ceremony to decide the winners of the 62nd Golden Horse Awards。










There are 593 submissions to this year’s Golden horse Awards competition; the preliminary stage selection is categorized into four groups: Narrative Feature, Live Action Short Film, Documentary and Animation.

YUAN (Producer, Secretary General of the New Media Entertainment Association),Timmy CHEN Chih-ting (Film critic, member of Hong Kong Film Critics Society),Amy CHIN Siu-wai (Executive producer/screenwriter),Plus CHIANG Wei-liang and HUANG Hsin-yao.
Selecting committees for Live Action Short Film (nine members): HONG Heng-fai (Director/screenwriter, nominee of Best New Director at GHA),LIN Yu-chen (Screenwriter, nominee of Best Adapted Screenplay at GHA),Clifford MIU (Executive producer/producer, winner of Best Asian Chinese Language Film at the Hong Kong Film Awards),LEONG Siew-hong (Director/screenwriter, nominee of Best Live Action Short Film at GHA),Tomi KUO (Visual effects supervisor, winner of Best Visual Effects at GHA),Isara CHEN Hong-ren (Director/screenwriter, winner of Best Original Film Song at GHA), WONG Kew-soon (Producer, Special Mention Musa Cinema & Arts Award at Venice),LIAO Ming-yi (Director/screenwriter/cinematographer/editor, nominee of Best New Director at GHA),And HO Miu-ki.
Selecting committees for Documentary (five member):CHAN Tze-woon (Documentary director, nominee of Best Documentary at GHA),TSENG Wen-chen (Director, winner of Best Documentary at GHA),HUANG Ya-li (Independent filmmaker, winner of of Best Documentary at GHA),Elvis LU A-liang (Documentary director, nominee of Best Documentary at GHA and winner of Grand Prize at the Taipei Film Awards),And HUANG Hsiu-yi.
Selecting committees for Animation (three members): SHEK Ka-chun (Animation director, winner of Best Animated Short Film at GHA), CHEN Ming-ho (Director, winner of Best Visual Effects at the Taipei Film Awards), LIU Wan-ling (Director, nominee of Best Animated Short Film at GHA and winner of Best Animation at the Taipei Film Awards).



















All the nominated films will be screened in Golden Horse Film Festival starting from November the 6th. The 62nd Golden Horse Awards Ceremony will be held on November 22nd at Taipei Music Center. For audiences in Taiwan, live broadcast will be available on TTV channel, live streaming exclusively on MyVideo along with collaborator LINE TODAY. International audiences can watch the live broadcast on StarHub (Singapore) and Astro (Malaysia); viewers from other countries/regions can watch it on TGHFF and TTV YouTube channels.
