GODSPEED & MANDALAY Premiere at Golden Horse

2016 Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival will take place from November 4th through November 24th. This year the festival will open with GODSPEED, directed by Golden Horse Awards Best Director CHUNG Mong-Hong, starring Hong Kong comedy maestro Michael HUI. Closing film is Midi Z’s latest work THE ROAD TO MANDALAY, starring Kai KO and WU Ke-Xi.

CHUNG Mong-Hong is well known for his unique visual style combined with absurd humor and has won the Best Director Award at the 47th Golden Horse Awards (2010) with THE FOURTH PORTRAIT. In GODSPEED, also selected into 2016 Toronto International Film Festival, CHUNG once again takes the responsibility of directing, scriptwriting and cinematography. Hong Kong comedy legend Michael HUI plays a cab driver bumping into Taiwanese drug mule and starts a crazy journey.

Midi Z was nominated Best Director with ICE POISON at the 51st Golden Horse Awards (2014) and began the preparation of THE ROAD TO MANDALAY while participating Golden Horse Film Academy in 2009. This film not only grabbed two awards at 2014 Golden Horse Film Project Promotion but also nodded at L’Atelier du Festival (Cannes) and World Cinema Fund (Berlinale), now selected into 2016 Venice Film Festival. Kai KO and WU Ke-Xi delicately portray the illegal immigrants yearning for brand new life in foreign country.
