Fabulous Prizes at Golden Horse FPP to Celebrate its 10th Anniversary

In celebration of its 10th anniversary in 2016, Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP) offers prizes amount to nearly six million New Taiwan Dollar and announced a marvelous list of jurors and workshop trainers, including LOU Ye, Jojo HUI Yuet-Chun, Jimmy HUANG, LEE Lieh, YEH Jufeng, MEI Feng, and CHANG Chia-Lu.
Jury of FPP consists of renowned director LOU Ye, and veteran executive producer Jojo HUI Yuet-Chun and Jimmy HUANG. LOU has an international reputation with Suzhou River, Summer Palace, Spring Fever, and Mystery. In 2014, his work Blind Massage won six Golden Horse Awards. HUI is long-time collaborator with director Peter CHAN Ho-Sun, making Comrades, Almost A Love Story, Perhaps Love, and Warlords. She also produced Soul Mate, which grabbed seven nominations at this year’s Golden Horse Awards. HUANG participated in international productions like Double Vision, Silk, Cape No. 7, and Seediq Bale, and was awarded Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year at 2014 Golden Horse Awards.
FPP Workshop invites four trainers to share with participants: Pitching Trainer LEE Lieh and YEH Jufeng are both distinguished executive producers with experiences from art house indies to blockbusters, and both are the Outstanding Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year recipients. Scriptwriting Trainer are MEI Feng and CHANG Chia-Lu: MEI won Best Screenplay award at Cannes with Spring Fever, and nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at this year’s Golden Horse Awards with Mr. No Problem. CHANG won Golden Horse Best Adapted Screenplay with A World Without Thieves.
In addition to the Grand Prize, FPP offers multiple prizes: CNC Cash Award (EUR 8,000, sponsored by Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, CNC), Taipei New Horizon Screenplay Award (TWD 400,000, sponsored by Taipei New Horizon), and Malaysia Award (USD 10,000, sponsored by MJJ Media Corporation Ltd.). There are four more prizes that offer not only cash but also subsequent investments: Heaven Pictures Award (TWD 400,000, sponsored by Heaven Pictures Inc.), Heaven Pictures Screenplay Award (TWD 300,000, sponsored by Heaven Pictures Inc.), MandarinVision Award (TWD 300,000, sponsored by MandarinVision Co., Ltd.) and Central Pictures Corporation Award (TWD 500,000 cash plus TWD 500,000 service deduction, sponsored by Central Pictures Corporation). Post-Production Awards include Content Digital Film Award (TWD 1,000,000 service deduction, sponsored by Content Digital Film Co., Ltd.) and Pixelfly Digital Award (TWD 1,000,000 service deduction, sponsored by Pixelfly Digital Effects Co., Ltd.).
Of all the selected projects in previous FPP, there are 65 completed projects screening in 70 film festivals of 26 different countries and won 55 awards. Some have their commercial release in 2016: The Road to Mandalay by Midi Z, Crosscurrent by YANG Chao, Foret Debussy by KUO Cheng-Chui, My Egg Boy by FU Tien-Yu, Packages from Daddy by TSAI Yin-Chuang, and My Love Sinema by TAN Ai-Leng
Previous Grand Prize winners On Happiness Road (2013) by Sung Hsin-Yin and Shuttle Life (2014) by TAN Seng-Kiat are almost ready for release, and will show preview clips at this year’s FPP.
The Golden Horse FPP will take place in Taipei between November 22nd and November 24th.
