Feng Hsu receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee announced the recipient of this year's Lifetime Achievement Award is veteran filmmaker Feng Hsu. Hsu, in recognition of her accomplishment in acting and producing, as well as her dedication to Taiwanese classic film restoration. Hsu also noted, "I sincerely appreciate the Golden Horse Awards for such a great honor, which also urges me to keep making more films."
Feng Hsu made the first appearance on big screen in Dragon Gate Inn (1967) directed by King Hu, and the following year she appeared as leading actress in Hu's masterpiece A Touch of Zen (1971), which won the Technical Grand Prize at Cannes Film Festival. She also won the Best Leading Actress Award twice in Golden Horse Awards with Assassin (1976) and The Pioneers (1980)
In addition to her achievement in acting, Hsu established Tomson Films in 1984 and became a producer. Among the films she produced, Farewell My Concubines (1993) was awarded Palme d'Or at Cannes Film Festival and Best Foreign Language Film at Golden Globe as well as nods from Academy Awards. Red Dust (1990) won eight Golden Horse Awards and Five Girls and A Rope (1990) won the Best Picture at Nantes Three Continents Festival and Silver Award at Tokyo International Film Festival.
In recent year, Hsu has devoted herself in the restoration of classic films. Not only did she help A Touch of Zen and Legend of the Mountain (1979) regain regain their glamour on silver screen, she also help cultivate technical professionals in Taiwan and further enhance their ability and visibility in archiving, researching and promoting classic films.
The 54th Golden Horse Awards will take place on November 25th 2017 at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei, Taiwan.
